These are the changes i made to my coasters. For starters i made them much thinner and decided to make the top bun have three different sections. I want to shrink the top two to give it the illusion as if it were curving into one. Next change was the cheese and tomato coasters. I am going to either engrave or score the seeds into the coaster and then paint them. as for the cheese, i think it would be best to score the details on it. Lastly, the change for materials. Plywood would work best for all the materials and i can just paint them all their respective colors.

Coaster Renders

Here are some renders for my prototype cheeseburger coaster. There were a few good concept sketches but it dwindled down to the cheeseburger.  I got some great feedback from my classmates which was focused on what materials i should use for each coaster. For the burger and patty i thought the best choice would be wood or plywood, the lettuce and cheese will be acrylic and the tomato will be glass. My only issue was curving the top bun but i doubt it will take away from the gimmick of my coaster.

Coaster Concept Sketches

  These are a few concept sketches I drew up for a design for a coaster. I put some thought into them but if I had to choose two that I am most excited for, one would be the vinyl coasters. I am a huge fan of all things vintage, and when I was assigned to make concept designs for a coaster, my mind immediately went to “how can I make a coaster with a vintage aesthetic?” And my first idea was vinyl records. My idea was that they each have a different album on each record and it would come with a tray where you can store them whenever you don’t need to use them now. The second idea that I am excited about is the Burger/Sandwich coaster. My thought process is this; every part of the burger/sandwich functions as a coaster, the buns, lettuce, cheese etc. They are detachable and can stack up together if they are stacked properly. I am looking forward to working on either one of these choices.

Vinyl 3D Voxel Model

For my voxel model, i chose to create my vinyl collection. I tried experimenting with different lighting as well as backgrounds and colors. What i found worked best with my model is going with a basic gradient rather than a background. Throughout this process i learned that sometimes, less is more which can be shown in my renders.
